"But we need to remember, it's not just about us. It's about the hopes and dreams of the American people. We owe them more than to get subsumed in process."

She was speaking in the same convention hotel where Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) spoke to the New York state delegation Monday morning.

Earlier, she got frustrated with questions from reporters about Clinton supporters defecting to Republican candidate Sen. John McCain of Arizona.

"Did I walk into a time capsule?" Pelosi told reporters peppering her with questions. "This is the yesterday room."

She said women voters should recognize they have the most to gain from a victory by Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) in terms of pay equity and reproductive choice.

Some Clinton supporters remain unhappy that their candidate is not the Democratic nominee. Some are also upset over perceptions that Obama did not seriously consider Clinton as a vice presidential candidate.
