At least three of Sen. Barack Obama’s (Ill.) potential running mates are slated to address the Democratic convention on the night that the vice presidential candidate is scheduled to speak.

Sens. Evan Bayh (Ind.) and Joseph Biden (Del.) and New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson are joining former President Bill Clinton in speaking from the podium Wednesday night.

With the theme for the evening “Securing America's Future,” the three contenders will be joined by Sen. Jay Rockefeller (W.Va.) and Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (Nev.).

The announcement Thursday by the Democratic convention committee raises more questions about Obama's running mate than it answers.

The Illinois senator could conceivably pick from one of the names already scheduled to speak that night, simply moving them to another spot in the order.

Or other possible running mates, like Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine or Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, could be viewed as having moved up the short list.

Sebelius is scheduled to speak earlier in the week, and many observers thought the selection of former Virginia Gov. Mark Warner as the convention’s keynoter signaled bad news for Kaine.
